Dr. Kevin Clerkin is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and cardiologist, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with advanced heart failure. His practice includes those requiring left ventricular assist device or heart transplantation. He also attends as a cardiac intensivist. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Echocardiography, and Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology.
Dr. Clerkin received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He completed additional training in Cardiovascular Disease and Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He also received a Master of Science degree in Patient Oriented Research/Biostatistics from the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.
Dr. Clerkin is an NIH funded clinical investigator and his research focuses on improving the quality of life and survival in heart transplant recipients. He has published more than 100 peer reviewed manuscripts, reviews, abstracts, and book chapters. His work has been published in prestigious peer-reviewed journals including Circulation, Journal of American College of Cardiology, Journal of American College of Cardiology Heart Failure, Circulation - Heart Failure, JAMA Cardiology, The New England Journal of Medicine, and The Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation.
