The Tsai Lab welcomes highly motivated, outstanding recent doctoral graduate to study the molecular pathophysiology of right ventricular dysfunction and right heart failure. We use an integrative and multidisciplinary approach, combining discovery science in human patient tissue samples and mechanistic studies in in vivo animal models and in vitro cell culture models. Our overall goal is to develop novel therapeutic approaches for treating heart failure, particularly in preventing and/or reversing right ventricular dysfunction. This postdoctoral fellowship is supported by a training grant from the National Heart, Lung, Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health. As such, the postdoctoral fellow must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.

Candidates must have obtained a PhD in Molecular Biology, Cellular and Molecular Physiology, Cardiovascular Physiology, Cardiovascular Pharmacology, Biological and Biomedical Sciences, or equivalent field within the past 2 years. Recent MD-PhD and DVM-PhD graduates are strongly encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will have experimental training in cardiovascular physiology, myocyte biology, or animal models of heart failure.

The Tsai Lab seeks a highly motivated, organized, full-time research technician to oversee daily operations of the laboratory and to execute molecular and cellular biology experiments. Primary responsibilities will be in experimental execution, data record and organization, and laboratory management. Other responsibilities include supervision of research trainees, research protocol maintenance, and research compliance assurances. The candidate must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively. Verbal and written English fluency is required.

Candidates must have a BS in Molecular Biology, Cellular and Molecular Physiology, or an equivalent field. Additional post-baccalaureate scientific training or full time work experience in the field of cardiovascular science is preferred. The successful applicant will have expertise with cell culture, qRT-PCR, and/or Western blotting. The applicant should be open-minded, energetic, collaborative, highly motivated, and eager to learn.

The initial appointment will be for one year and may be renewed upon satisfactory performance. 

Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and in accordance with University guidelines.
