The Advanced Structural Echocardiography Imaging Fellowship provides its fellows with extensive experience in all aspects of structural echocardiography, including pre-operative assessment and intraoperative imaging guidance of structural interventions including: transcatheter aortic and mitral valve replacement, transcatheter mitral valve repair (i.e. Mitraclip and Neochord), transcatheter tricuspid valve interventions, left atrial appendage closure, and paravalvular leak closure. Training includes standard 2D and 3D echocardiography, as well as strain and fusion imaging.
The Columbia Structural Heart and Valve Center is one of the busiest structural programs in the United States, performing more than 800 procedures per year. There are extensive opportunities for clinical research at the medical center and through collaboration with the Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF). Exposure to structural CT imaging is available for interested applicants. Strong preference for applicants who will achieve level II echocardiography training by the end of General Cardiology Fellowship.
